The Process
The process started with an initial meeting to discuss the needs of the client. After taking extensive notes, I began brainstorming 1o potential solutions for my client's branding needs (on left). These brainstorms helped me to experiment more with how to create a creative branding that alluded to the show's plot while also getting the attention of anyone passing by. The show centered around a mystery 0f a missing girl in a private high school of the exceptionally gifted, and was a dramedy. I needed the branding to reflect this.
I attempted to further my three favorite ideas from sketches into finalized proposals, however I ended up not liking any of them. Instead, I took inspiration from mood boards and from my previous ideas to create three new finalized designs to present to my client. I formatted these designs into a poster, shirt, and playbill, which is what the design would be mainly used for. The first was in the form of a ransom note which alluded to the missing girl that the show was about. The second also played into this idea as I created a line contour drawing of the missing girl with a missing poster. Finally, I created a third proposal design centered around the murder board used in the show to find the missing girl. All of these designs included "World Premiere" as this was something my client wanted to include, as well as the rating (PG-13) in the playbills.
My client decided to go with the third design, however wanted some mild changes. He wanted to change the color of the red string to green in order to fit the aesthetic of the "green" light. He also wanted to include the dates of the show on one of the papers of the board, and so the show dates were added. After these modifications, the final design was created (to the left).
Finally, I created the appropriate files needed for the clients needs (PNGs for posters, SVGs for tshirts, etc). To the left is the final design and what it will look like on shirts, playbills, and posters.
